Women's Issues

Common reasons that women seek therapy are feeling overwhelmed by stress, challenges related to work-life balance, family and relationship issues, postpartum concerns, and changes in mood. In therapy, we will capitalize on your natural strengths and build confidence so that you feel empowered to make positive changes in your life.

According to the CDC, women experience mental health concerns at a higher rate than men across all age brackets. The reasons for this are quite complex; however, a number of factors are likely at play including: biology, genetics, environment, social expectations, and traditional gender roles. Women experience these unique stressors as well as have specific protective factors that contribute to mental health well-being.

If you are feeling stressed, overwhelmed, stuck in a rut, or just not quite like yourself, therapy may be a good place to explore these feelings. In particular, young women (20s & 30s) often experience unique challenges related to coming to terms with their own childhood/family history while, at the same time, building new relationships and forming their own family system. This time during early adulthood can be a trigger for many women and is an area that I particularly enjoy exploring with my clients. It can seem as if the past, present, and future are all converging on us at once. Seeking help through therapy can often provide clarity and a way forward during a seemingly overwhelming time.

In our initial meeting, we’ll take a comprehensive look at your concerns as well as how your unique history and experiences are contributing to your current functioning. We’ll then collaborate to set goals for our work together. My style is supportive, approachable, and nonjudgmental so that you feel supported and heard. I see my role as a guide to help you gain new skills, perspectives, and insights in order to make positive changes in your life. We’ll build on your natural strengths and your unique skillset meaning that there is no one-size- fits-all approach in my work. Please reach out to me to see if I may be a good fit for you and your goals.
